AC Entertainment announced the 2009 lineup for Sundown in the City, the city's free weekly concert festival, on Wednesady. This year's Sundown will kick off on Thursday, April 9th and run through June 25th. Some of the featured performers are Shooter Jennings, Gavin Rossdale (Mr. Gwen Stefani, and ex-Bush frontman), Big Head Todd & the Monsters, as well as semi-newcomer Jamey Johnson, who's 2008 album That Lonesome Sound was #5 in my Best Of 2008 albums. This year's lineup isn't the strongest ever, but it will still be plenty of fun...and it's free too, so ya can't beat that. So, get out on Thursdays, come downtown and enjoy some free music and cold beverages...and a ton of people getting down in K-town.
See the full lineup here, and see these related articles: Metro Pulse, Knoxville.com and Facebook.

Catching up again...
So, I missed getting this up last week in a timely manner, but it's still awesome. Fallon gives a shout out to my hometown of Chattanooga (they got destroyed in the tournament, so they are done for the season already, but it's still cool to get a shout out!).

TONIGHT: Adler's Appetite

This is a little confusing: Steven Adler, the OG drummer for the OG Guns 'N Roses and his band will be at (here's the most confusing part) Big Mama's Karaoke Cafe in Seymour (just outside of Knoxville) tonight.
First of all, the fact that Steven is still playing and touring, let alone still alive, is beyond me. And the fact that he is able to play old school GNR songs and isn't/hasn't been sued by Axl is also beyond me. But the fact that he is playing a show to 300 people in Seymour, Tennessee at Big Mama's Karaoke Cafe is the most puzzling piece of this story to me.
Anyways, check him out here tonight, and on his Myspace to hear the tunes. If I make it down there, I'll let you know how it is.

Obviously I fell off the edge of the Earth in the last month. We missed some shows. We missed some announcements. Real life called, and I had to do what I had to do for my actual paycheck... Your praises and comments don't keep my lights on (just yet).

Against Me! at the new Ciderhouse in April

The Ciderhouse opened this past week, and its already attracting big names:
For instance: Against Me! on Sunday, April 19th (the day after Wilco!). These guys will put on a show that you are sure to remember...you'll be lucky if you can stand up after the show due to all the bouncing and jumping you'll do throughout the show. Against Me! will surely bring it, so you better be ready as they play cuts off of 2007's New Wave, along with older tunes and hopefully some new ones too. Singer Tom Gabel has been playing solo shows lately, and even put out a solo record in 2008, so it's a safe bet that AM! will be playing some new stuff for us.
Tickets are on sale now, and are extremely reasonable ($10). This is totally worth it. After seeing them at Bonnaroo last year, I cannot wait to see them again, this time up close and personal here in Knoxville!

This will more than likely be too ridiculous for words. And by ridiculous, I mean awesome. Shew.
